Indie Game Engine Will Require ‘All Code To Be Human-Authored’ Following An AI Code ‘Shitshow’
Kotaku · 4 min read · top_stories
Godot, the open-source game engine, updated its contribution policy to require all code be human-authored, following months of AI-generated pull requests overwhelming its GitHub repository. The engine's project manager said AI submissions were "draining and demoralizing" for maintainers. The policy permits AI for menial tasks like autocomplete if disclosed, and bans AI-written issue descriptions and PR communications. Godot's repository currently has over 5,000 unresolved pull requests.
