OpenAI and Broadcom unveiled Jalapeño, a jointly-designed AI accelerator chip optimized for LLM inference. The companies claim the processor delivers substantially better performance-per-watt than current state-of-the-art chips. Initial deployment in data centers is slated for late 2026.
