Kickstarter updated its content guidelines around May 11 to prohibit "implied sex acts," "implied nudity," and sexually explicit imagery, replacing its previous blanket ban on pornography with specific restrictions. Payment processor Stripe may be driving the change; creator emails from March 2026 warned that Stripe will independently review adult content projects and can shut them down while live or post-funding. Kickstarter and Stripe declined to comment.
