Microsoft's layoffs extend beyond Xbox

Microsoft announced 3,200 additional layoffs beyond Xbox, primarily in its Commercial Business segment. Combined with Xbox cuts, Microsoft is eliminating 4,800 jobs today (2.1% of global workforce). Chief People Officer Amy Coleman stated the eliminated roles are not being replaced by AI immediately but acknowledged AI will automate tasks and change how work gets done.
