Sony to end physical PlayStation game disc production in 2028

Sony announced it will stop producing physical discs for new PlayStation games starting January 2028, shifting entirely to digital sales. Digital downloads already account for 85% of PS4 and PS5 full-game sales. The company is also closing PS3 and PS Vita stores in select markets this year and globally in 2027.
