Sony will stop making disc-based PlayStation games starting 2028

Sony will discontinue physical game disc production for new PlayStation releases starting January 2028, citing consumer preference for digital sales which accounted for 97% of PlayStation revenue last year. Existing physical games and those released before January 2028 are unaffected; the move will eliminate the second-hand market for new releases.
