Hachette Book Group, Cengage Learning, Elsevier, and author Scott Turow filed a class action lawsuit against Google alleging copyright infringement in training its Gemini AI on millions of copyrighted works without permission or compensation. The complaint also claims Gemini produces outputs that substitute for copyrighted works without appropriate guardrails.
