Two thirds of remaining Doom (2016) devs laid off during latest round of Xbox cuts

id Software co-director Hugo Martin stated during a livestream that the studio remains the size it was when Doom (2016) launched a decade ago, following Microsoft's elimination of 3,200 Xbox roles. A WARN notice showed 136 id Software staff, including 40 remote workers, were laid off. Current and former employees dispute Martin's claim, telling Game Developer that approximately two-thirds of remaining Doom (2016) developers were cut, including "multiple hat" developers integral to the original team. One employee stated: "If you cut a stat in half everyone would call that nerfed. In truth the Doom team is half here, half thrown away."
