Xbox explains what caused this week's 'unacceptable' major outage

An external licensing service failure caused Xbox sign-in and game launch failures across Xbox Series X/S, One, and 360 on Monday. Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet said the outage was unacceptable and announced plans to harden dependencies and improve failure detection.
