The Witcher is a 2007 action role-playing game developed by Polish studio CD Projekt Red, based on the fantasy novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski. Released October 26, 2007 (EU) for Windows, it launched the long-running Witcher franchise and was the developer's debut title. It used BioWare's Aurora Engine and has sold over 10 million copies.
